Company Background:
Norzagaray Water District (NorWD) was formally organized and formed on October 1, 1986 by virtue of the Sangguniang Bayan Resolution No. 86-10-48, through the initiative of then Mayor Jorge Esguerra and members of the town’s Sangguniang Bayan. Subsequently, the Conditional Certificate of Conformance (CCC) No. 261 was issued on October 24, 1986 by the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA). The CCC is the accreditation of LWUA to a newly formed water district to operate under the standards specification. The district became operational in 1997.
On November 12, 2002, LWUA Board of Trustees approved Resolution No. 257 series of 2002 for the takeover of NorWD. In this regard, Mr. Ricardo B. Abaño was designated as the Interim General Manager of NorWD along with five (5) members of the Board of Directors. IGM Abaño reported for work on December 7, 2002. IGM Abaño began his term with 1,500 concessionaires. During his term, NorWD has developed four (4) additional sources: three (3) in Poblacion-Matictic-Partida water system and one (1) in Bigte-Minuyan water system and four (4) additional pumping stations were transferred by the DPWH in 2005 in North Hills Village in Brgy. Bitungol and Brgy. Tigbe. LWUA turned over the District to the local Board of Directors in January 4, 2008 with 6,818 service connections.
As of December 2020, the district has a total of 19,281 service connections.The main system currently has about 19,131 active service connections, covering nine (9) out of thirteen (13) barangays and serving 69.2% based on the total population of Norzagaray. As of October 2020, NorWD has eight (8) Pumpstation with Booster station, six (6) Booster station only, eleven (11) Water Tank, and one (1) Bulk Water Supply agreement with Philhydro.
The district was able to withstand the hardships and challenges of times by effectively managing its resources and applying continuous improvements in system and processes. Last January 27, 2017, NorWD has passed ISO 9001:2015 after undergoing the audit certification process conducted by TUV Rheinland, Philippines. During the LWUA-WD Forum & Awards held last September 17, 2018, NorWD was recognized as the recipient of Big Brother Award and Outstanding Water District in Luzon under Category B awardee for the year 2017.
NorWD is composed of eighty three (98) employees consisting of fifty three (51) Regular and thirty (47) Job Order employees.
The Board of Directors is composed of five (5) local appointees representing business, professional, civic, education and women sector.
